Online verification helps a seafarer, employer or authorised checker confirm that certificate details correspond with an official Malaysian record. Use only the Marine Department service—not a screenshot, social-media message or unknown third-party database.

Before you begin

Have the original certificate or a clear authorised copy available. Find the document type, certificate number and any other information requested on the official form. Enter details exactly, including letters, digits and punctuation.

The portal may support several document types, but the available choices and field labels can change. Read the page itself before proceeding.

Verification steps

1. Open the official Marine Department verification page.
2. Select the document type shown on the certificate.
3. Enter the certificate number and any required identity field exactly.
4. Submit the search once and allow the official page to respond.
5. Compare the result carefully with the original: name, certificate type, capacity, limitation, issue or validity information.
6. Save a dated record only if you are authorised to handle the personal information.

Verification should confirm identity and scope, not just show a green result. A genuine certificate may still be unsuitable for the job if its capacity, limitation or validity does not match.

If no result appears

Do not immediately accuse the holder of fraud. First:

• check for zero/O, one/I and spacing errors;
• confirm that the correct document category was selected;
• retry from the portal’s main page rather than an old bookmark;
• check whether the record is very recent or historical;
• confirm that the certificate is Malaysian-issued or meant to be recognised in Malaysia;
• contact the official authority using details published on its own site.

Do not send full identity documents through an unverified email address or messaging account. Redact information that is not needed when seeking preliminary support.
